How did you discover KSA?
I had the opportunity to work with KSA when I worked for Spiegel Catalog. I was the client on the project team, and I had a chance to see the work we do from the inside. When I was considering career options, my KSA experience stood out.

What attracted you to join KSA?
First, I was impressed with the quality and talent of the people I met. I thought, “Wow, I can learn something from those around me every day.” And second, the opportunity to do many different things satisfied my need to constantly learn, grow, and have new experiences. I don’t like being put in a box, and KSA gives me the opportunity to so much.

How does KSA support women in consulting?
KSA is a great firm to work for as a woman. It's open, collaborative, and entrepreneurial, which is an excellent environment for women to be successful. Throughout my career at KSA I have had the need and desire to ebb and flow through different arrangements; KSA has always encouraged me and participated as I continually redefine myself and my success.

How does KSA’s Act VerticalSM initiative assist companies?
Act VerticalSM helps companies think about their business in a totally new way, and catapult to new levels of performance. It is about optimizing both the art and science of retailing, and teaching people how to work together in a way that is good for the whole enterprise.

How can consulting thrive in the current economic climate?
Retailers who see these economic times as an opportunity to be the best and take market share will be the leaders of tomorrow. I think this is the same for consulting. KSA is advising and working with the leaders in the industry, who are investing to be even stronger.

What are your professional and personal goals?
Both my career and personal goals can be put under the umbrella of “making a difference.” At KSA and with clients, making a difference in their business is what it is all about. My personal goal is to give back and make a difference in others’ lives. While I have not done a great job of meeting that personal goal, giving back will be a big part of my coming years.

What is something interesting about you that your associates don’t know?
I get my stubbornness and never-give-up attitude from my dad, who always told me I could be and do anything I wanted. He required me to live outside my comfort zone, and he pushed me there often – like the time he taught me to drive when I was 11 years old!
