A Women’s Wear Daily profile of Belk chairman and CEO Tim Belk highlighted the innovative approach of the regional department store leader over the past few years. In the article, Kurt Salmon retail strategist Arnold Aronson, who has worked with Tim on several projects, also praised his customer focus. “Tim is a great listener,” he said. “He’s very astute and attuned to innovation and leadership. He does draw [ideas] from the outside, but he’s not impulsive. He’s measured, methodical and thoughtful. For building a business in this age of innovation and omnichannel without losing sight of the customer, he’s got the prototype.”
