Retailers were to blame for all this year’s delays, with reasons including inventory issues and a failure of retailers to select guaranteed shipping methods, the Associated Press explains, based on the findings of Kurt Salmon’s 2014 Holiday Shipping Study. Thirteen percent of holiday deliveries failed to make it to shoppers in time for Christmas, a slight improvement from 15% last year, according to Kurt Salmon. In some cases, Kurt Salmon found that retailers may have underestimated how many packages they told shippers to expect to process for the holidays.
