Restaurant spending cooled in April, after a 10-month streak, and flat consumer sentiment suggests that trend may continue into the summer, according to Kurt Salmon’s Restaurant Spending Trajectory.
“The cautious consumer attitude this spring was borne out as spending dipped in April,” said restaurant strategist Todd Hooper. “And with a barrage of bad economic news recently, we expect consumers will remain wary of unnecessary spending. Concepts that offer exceptional value and convenience will continue to take share.”
