After slipping all summer, consumer spending at restaurants may flatten in the coming months, as consumer sentiment inched up for the second straight month, according to Kurt Salmon’s Restaurant Spending Trajectory.
“Total restaurant spending hit an all-time high in March and has since dropped to what may be a more sustainable level,” said restaurant strategist Todd Hooper. “Consumers are cutting back on discretionary expenses, but are looking for ways to eat out within their budgets.”
