Restaurant sales rose in March after taking a slight dip in February, and these slight ups and downs may continue into the summer, according to Kurt Salmon’s Restaurant Spending Trajectory.
“We’ve seen consumer sentiment tick up a bit, then down, month after month,” said Kurt Salmon restaurant strategist Todd Hooper. “Asset appreciation—stocks and housing—has not yet translated into consumers heading to their favorite restaurants more often. The result is continued modest sales fluctuations, but no strong trend.”
