Same-store sales increased in June, but not as much as earlier this year, threatening to put a damper on earlier momentum, according to a Wall Street Journal article. The slump may also be bad news for back-to-school sales. “Macroeconomic issues continue weighing, making the consumer more reluctant to spend,” said Kurt Salmon retail strategist Nancy Liu in the article. “This is going to give retailers pause for back-to-school selling.”
