Although retailers turned in positive comps in June, the results were disappointingly below those from a year ago, according to a New York Times article. In the article, Kurt Salmon retail strategist Nancy Liu said the sub-par performance was all the harsher when compared to last year’s strong results. “Retailers were coming out of the gate” a year ago, she said. “They would have had to outperform to beat those numbers.”
