Your mailbox continues to be stuffed full of catalogs over the holidays because catalogs have not, as some people assume, been rendered obsolete by the Internet, notes Kurt Salmon’s Michelle Bogan, a partner in the firm’s North American Retail and Consumer Products practice. “The richness of the photography and the broader content of a lifestyle drive more sales than when that catalog doesn’t exist,” Bogan told the Dallas Morning News. Indeed, some 86 percent of shoppers polled by Kurt Salmon research said they bought an item after first seeing it in a catalog.
