Chicago's Water Tower Place began offering same-day delivery to shoppers this week—one of a growing number of malls to feature such a service—for just $5, which could help speed up its adoption. As Kurt Salmon's Sean Whitehouse, a partner in the firm's Retail and Consumer Goods practice, told the Chicago Tribune, to date, same-day delivery "hasn't taken off from a volume perspective" because customers rarely need something to arrive so quickly, but also because they don't want to pay a premium.
