Apple Pay has singlehandedly established that there is consumer demand for mobile payments at the point of sale, yet the divide between retailers and financial institutions may hamper adoption of other mobile payments systems, including MCX, said Michele Orndorff, senior manager in Kurt Salmon’s Global Financial Services Practice in a conversation with Credit Union Times. “The best bet for financial institutions is to look forward and think about the broader mobile landscape and where they will play in mobile payments.” Orndorff adds, “Mobile payments are coming and you need to be there.”
