Today’s CIOs are evolving the traditional model of the Office of the CIO to look more closely at how they structure and organize their teams within the broader organization, Shahryar Shaghaghi, partner in Kurt Salmon’s CIO Advisory Practice, tells CIO magazine. He explains how CIOs are aligning themselves more closely with sales, marketing and business units to drive value in the increasingly complex marketplace. While an understanding of IT is still necessary, Shaghaghi admits, he describes how CIOs today are increasingly valued more for their expertise in products and services that are driven by technology enablement, as well as their knowledge of customers and clients.
