As part of a broader response to the Affordable Care Act, many hospitals are entering into partnerships with other health care organizations, as the Mayo Clinic has increasingly done, according to a Minnesota Public Radio report. In the segment, Kurt Salmon health care strategist James Berarducci said Mayo is not alone in the affiliation trend. “I’ve done more merger affiliations in the last 24 months than previously done in 23 years” as a consultant, he said. “The issue now is, this isn’t all about merging assets or being acquired; there are newer, different relationships that are being created.”
