Most retailers posted positive comps in October, giving retailers reason to be optimistic about the holiday season, according to Women’s Wear Daily. “The numbers are very good, with an emphasis on very,” Kurt Salmon retail strategist Arnold Aronson said in the article. “Kohl’s is coming back, Bon-Ton and Macy’s are doing well, and Nordstrom’s comps were up nearly 10 percent. These are big numbers and each month they keep getting bigger as we get further into the fall season. Nobody should break out the champagne, but the consumer is alive and well and consumer confidence is improving.”
