After the National Transportation Safety Board urged states to reduce their BAC levels to 0.05%, several restaurants claimed the reduction would eat into profits without enhancing safety, according to a Wall Street Journal article. In the article, Kurt Salmon restaurant strategist Todd Hooper said a BAC of 0.05% could translate to a limit of two drinks for the average man, or potentially a single drink for a smaller women. “Buying by the bottle would become very tricky unless you had four or more people at the table,” he said. Still, even if states reduce their limits, consumer behaviors will be slow to change.
