Both the recession and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) have had a significant impact on hospitals, said Jeff Hoffman, a senior partner in Kurt Salmon’s Health Care Group, in a recently published article in Healthcare Finance News. “The recession changed a lot of the financial dynamics for many hospitals,” Hoffman was quoted as saying, while at the same time it “showed the weakness of healthcare as an investment,” problems that were then amplified by the rollout of the ACA. And from a strategic planning perspective, he added,  healthcare providers are now focused on the entire delivery as opposed to just incremental ROI.
