Retailers have pushed deadlines for orders closer to Christmas despite all the problems encountered last year. In a recent Kurt Salmon survey, 26% of respondents said they will guarantee on-time delivery for orders placed one to three days before Christmas and nearly 50% will guarantee delivery of orders placed by Dec. 20. “Retailers are making ambitious promises in order to capture last-minute online sales,” Steve Osburn, a director in Kurt Salmon’s Retail and Consumer Goods Practice, told Forbes when discussing how retailers believe free and faster shipping are required to remain competitive.
