This holiday season, retailers will increasingly rely on ship-from-store capabilities to fulfill online orders, Steve Osburn, a director in Kurt Salmon’s Retail and Consumer Group, told The Washington Post. Based on Kurt Salmon’s 2014 Holiday Shipping Study data, Osburn expects 40% to 50% of major retailers to use ship-from-store technology this holiday season, up from 15% last year. This logistical sleight of hand is largely invisible to consumers but is shaking up the industry by allowing retailers to react more quickly to customer demands.
