“Coming out of last year, we estimated that people would be a little more cautious this year, ” says Steve Osburn, partner in the Retail and Consumer Products Practice at Kurt Salmon, reflecting on last year's holiday season backlash over late packages in a discussion with Marketplace. Osburn adds that this year, surprisingly, even more big retailers are promising last-minute delivery. Osburn describes the competitive mentality at play, as companies insist “if my competitor is going to be able to do it, I need to be able to do it.”
