At the Sourcing at Magic event held in Las Vegas, Kurt Salmon and Apparel magazine presented findings from their recent study identifying what companies can to do battle the challenges of evolving global sourcing. The study found that while the concept of sourcing has not changed over the years, what has changed is its complexity.
To manage this increase in complexity, as well as balance consumer demand and market uncertainty, winning companies will need to become more nimble and partner with super vendors. These vendors offer companies the ability to invest in new sourcing regions and diversify risk by spreading production across factories—which will help organizations be the kind of nimble that today’s market demands, said Akshay Madane, expert at Kurt Salmon.
